Best Thing I’ve Seen This Week 030312

March 3, 2012

Man. There were quite a few picks fighting for the top spot this week.

This modern day ghostbuster has gotten a few WTFs, but I thought it was awesome.

Everyone who’s ever lived in Austin has their own stories about how the current new residents are ruining “their” Austin. I still love that city, but I’m well aware it’s not the place I called home in the early 2000s. This shirt can’t be called the best thing I’ve seen this week, but if you hold a place in your heart for 78704 (or any of the ATX zip codes), you might need one of these.

I did come across this toy from Japan, which is so low-tech that it seems more like something I would have played with back in the ’70s. Remember these things?

The thing that helped push this wonder from the East into contention wasn’t what it did. It was the advertisement. I’ve had this damn song stuck in my head for two days now, so click at your own risk.

Visually, there was absolutely no competition once I saw Jacob Sutton snowboarding in an LED suit. It’s such a simple idea, but the effect puts it right up there with seeing Freddie Wong’s Flower Warfare for the first time. If this one has slipped under your radar until now, you are in for a treat. Go ahead and light one up if you’re so inclined. You’ll want to watch it more than once.

I really thought that was the best thing I’d seen this week. That is until Joe Rogan dropped some SCIENCE! on everyone via Google+. A Youtube user with the handle philhellenes takes the time to explain how science saved him from religion. Its about 15 minutes long, and it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. So if you’re already thinking you won’t like it, you probably won’t. Don’t watch it. For the rest of you, enjoy the Best Thing I’ve Seen This Week.
