I’m gonna sleep like a baby

March 6, 2012

Ok, here’s the details: Week7Day1 done, it was easier than last time, and next time will be easier that this morning was.

Now that that’s out of the way, my main point was going to be about how awesome it is to go out and run for almost a half hour, get back home and feel no more exhausted than I would if I had driven to the grocery store and back. AND THEN … I stepped into a hot shower. I really don’t have words to describe how great that felt, but it was like a giant hug … from the inside of a Tonton … without the smell.

So now I just want to jot down the important points before I bury myself under a couple of blankets.

I feel like I’m working hard, but not too hard. My pace is still slow, but it’s pretty consistent. I’m getting the hang of throttling down to control my breath and heart rate (of course I’m only assuming the later since I’ve yet to buy a monitor).

The other thing worth mentioning is that the old me, the one that’s usually the complainer and is signified by the red text, has sort of become a cheering section.

Dude! We just ran 25 minutes! Do you realize how awesome that is?!

I’m not sure if he’s actually excited for me or if he’s trying to lull me into confidence in preparation for some coup he’s planning as I add another 5 minutes over the next two weeks.

I was finishing an uphill section of my route that use to be a major bargaining point when he first spoke up.

Remember when you used to lie to me right here? ‘Just run until the next mailbox,’ you’d say. And then you’d make me keep going after that. There was always ‘one more mailbox.’ You’re a dick, but you’re kicking ass right now.

It was hard not to smile as I cruised past those mailboxes.

It was in the mid 50s this morning and I was still jamming The Flaming Lips, so I don’t have any new music to leave you with. In fact, the only other thing I’ve really been listening to is the new project I’m working on with a buddy of mine. Even if we did have a name nailed down for the project, we still don’t have the mix finished. Not to worry though. To not leave you empty handed, I’ll sign off with an oldie, but a goodie. Enjoy!
